Folowing the races, there will be a large number of events organised by the Easingwold Lions in the market square including tombola, raffles, stalls selling everything you could imagine and more, rides for children, Punch and Judy etc. food and crafts etc. All the things that make up a traditional Town Fair in fact! In the afternoon there will be a performance by a group of dancers - last years cheerleaders group were fabulous as they performed with real panash!
After things quieten down at tea time, the Market Square starts to fill up and the marching bands begin to tune their instruments. The band contest is actually the second oldest in the country and attracts a high level of skill from bands over a wide area. Each band marches around the Market square in uniform and playing a piece of music. Boys & girls from the local Scouts & Guides lead each band around the square
