COMING EVENTS

 

The Galtres Entertainment Centre is coming to the end of its programme featured in the brochure, Winter and Spring, with a new brochure due in August including the coming events for the winter. Many more bookings have to be arranged, but those that have been confirmed are many and varied.

May 21st and the humour of Bob Newhart and Tom Lehrer are featured in an evening of fun in their own style, then drama takes to the stage, June 16th to the 19th inclusive with the Easingwold Players presentation of Peter Shaffer's English comedy "Lettice and Lovage". June 26th and the Chanticleer Singers, a  group of mixed singers entertain with  a wide ranging repertoire encompassing sacred, classical and lighter music from the sixteenth to twenty-first century.

July 9th 7:30pm and 10th( (matinee at 2pm) and "Wind in the Willows" will be performed, an exciting new version of this family classic for ages 0-100, with physical theatre and live music, from the acclaimed Ratatat Theatre, and featuring Dominic Goodwin as Toad leading a cast of four.

Then it is back for August 11th and two plays by Noel Coward, Mild Oats, and Brief Encounter, which will feature, just like the film, Rachmaninov's piano concerto played live whilst the action is taking place on the stage.

September 25th and the Three Tenors appear in Tenorissimo an evening of first class singing and first class songs, including songs from the shows, popular classics, and some laughter to ensure the enjoyment continues.

October 1st and Mercury Queen, the best tribute band to this popular group appear, with We are the Champions and all their other greatest hits, and October 2nd it will be Union jacks out to celebrate the Last Night of the Proms, played by the Shepherd Group brass band with a true English repertoire.

October 15th and the Galtres Centre is fortunate to have the only professional touring show of "Godspell", it does not eulogise, it is fast, furious, full of up-beat songs delivering a powerful story of Christ.

October 16th and the Harrogate Philharmonic Orchestra will perform with a varied programme,

October 20th and for those who have missed the previous two, "The Vulcan Story", a talk by the pilot, Martin Withers.

October 22nd and the actress who gave a magic performance last year as Clemmie Churchill, returns to tell the story of Beatrix Potter. End of October and an astronomical evening,

November 5th and an illustrated talk on RAF Linton-on-Ouse and its involvement during world war two, and the Frankie Howerd story is told on November 13th, and then it is the big show from the Easingwold Players, "Peter Pan".

Just a few of the shows coming to the Galtres with more still to be arranged.

It's a fact

Like many local villages, Easingwold grew out of two completely separate settlements, one Viking and one of Saxon origin, located to the north and south of a common market square.
