GALTRES ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE

A VARIED PROGRAMME!

Continuing its strategy of providing entertainment for everyone, the Galtres Centre embarks on a war theme for some future presentations and also a complete contrast, the Grumbleweeds and fun!

The war theme is provided by a talk on RAF Linton-on-Ouse and its role during the second world war by Wing Commander Alan Mawby, who is in charge of the memorial room at the base and takes place on Friday, November 5th at 7:30pm tickets on sale now price £8 for adults and £5 for children, available from the Galtres box office, telephone 01347 822472, open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm with credit card bookings accepted.

The illustrated talk will cover the involvement of the base and the bomber attacks on Germany, and a history of what and who were at the base, and the sorties they dangerously flew.

Alan has the details of all the raids that were made on Germany and the evening promises to be exciting and informative.

From the proceeds of the evening a donation will be made to the RAF Benevolent Fund/RAF Linton memorial room.

Continuing the war theme on October 6th, at 7:30pm. Dr. Mark Baldwin will present a two hour programme based on the code breakers at Bletchley Park and especially the Enigma machine, the machine  the Germans used for coding messages and which the Allies had to decipher.

So popular have these talks been in the past, this will be the third talk, each time to a full house.
